選前就因各種激進與保守言論，被外界稱為「巴西川普」的博索納羅（Jair Bolsonaro），2日正式就職總統。
面對國家與社會多方挑戰，這名支持擁槍、反對同性戀、拒絕移民、熱愛在社群大發言論的新總統，會如何處理安排，也成為國際社會觀察巴西的焦點之一。
新總統簽署放寬擁槍法令
英國《衛報》（The Guardian）報導，新上任的總統博索納羅15日正式簽署新法令，放寬對國內民眾擁有槍枝火力的限制，對這位「巴西版川普」而言，新法案能讓正派的公民在第一時間，倚靠自身力量還給家庭寧靜而不受威脅。

對於這項爭議法案，支持者多半舉雙手力挺總統的決定，一名里約熱內盧（Rio de Janeiro）的警察表示，「我寧願讓良民擁有槍枝，而不是要面對一群武裝的小混混。」而一名擁有16萬粉絲的網紅Luciano Hang，更透過推特寫道，「任務達成，如今巴西不再只有盜匪能擁有槍枝了！」

但看在許多國會議員和非政府組織眼中，卻認為博索納羅此舉猶如「走鋼索」，巴西公共安全論壇主席利馬（Renato Lima）指出，「新法令無疑是對公共安全開啟暴力與危險之門，如今他是讓所有想私擁槍枝的人，都可在家自行持有。」

謀殺率連年居高不下
巴西每年的謀殺率和遭暴力殺害人數，經常名列全球前幾位，2016年統計數據顯示高達29.53%，一年共有6萬3880人遭故意殺害或謀殺，公共安全一直是巴西政府最頭痛的挑戰之一。
事實上，為杜絕黑槍氾濫造成的危害，巴西政府曾一度在2003年頒布法令，大舉搜查、並沒收和銷毀民間數千把槍枝，嚴格執行反擁槍的政策。
而支持擁槍的博索納羅勝選後，即刻實現其諾言，讓民眾在和聯邦警察局「面談」後，可因需求取得槍枝許可證，並同時將許可效期從5年延長為10年。
每年有400多名警員遭殺害
可對於另一群生命安危也處在高危險範圍的警察而言，放寬擁槍令根本不等於能讓民眾自保。
現役小隊長、國家退役警員協會主席洛廷（Sgt Elisandro Lotin）認為，新法令會讓國會因口角衝突、入室強盜和酒吧鬥毆致死率增高。
面對新總統擁槍能自保的論點，他更無奈地表示，「每年有400名巴西警官被殺害，事發當下多數身上均有佩槍，若擁槍真能自保，為何我們還會有這麼多警察被殺害？」
